68 Farm Safety Objectives of CODE • To promote best practice in the design specification and approval for facilities using EPS FRP • To establish minimum acceptable benchmarks for manufacturing and installation of EPS FRP • To promote strategies to address risks of fires • To promote high levels of maintenance of facilities made of EPS FRP • To promote environ ment & sustainable credentials for EPS FRP • To provide recognisable “COP Branding Mark” to distinguish EPS FRP complaina nt facilities. Scope of CODE The COP will initially apply to buildings classified by BCA Class 7 & 8, with customers electing application to other Classes. Specific Work covered by the COP is: • Detailing & drawings • Panel Manufacture • Panel Installation • Post Construction practices. In addition the COP stipulates standards for: • EPS manufacture & Panel manufacture • Floor insulation • Sealants • Fixings • Joints • Thermal cuts, Relief ports and heater cables • Doors The COP DOES NOT mitigate any requirements of the releva nt building legislation. As the COP was developed to address Fire Fighter concerns pertaining to operational fire fighting, if any design application intends to use this COP as part of a building approval submission, consultation with the Fire Brigade having jurisdiction should be undertaken. Applying the CODE • Ma nufacturers & Installers will be paid up members of EPSA-PMG to apply for certification. • Members will ensu re their teams are educated on COP application and standards. • Members will provide c ustomers with education and information on COP and its application and benefits. • Members commit to upholding the contractual obligation and will endeavour to operate with best practice policies & procedures with regard to: - Compliance with legislation - Appropriate qualified & trained teams - High level of quality work - Occupational Health & Safety - Minimising environmental impacts - Customer service & project management. • Tender or proposal letters must clearly state COP application. • Breaches of COP will be professionally addressed. • The COP has mechanisms for appeal, for ongoing review and enhancements of processes and scope. • The EPSA PMG has established mechanisms for COP administration, registration, audits and publications. The COP underpins the principle: "RIGHT PANEL- RIGHT PLACE- RIGHT APPLICATION". Post Construction Process On completion of a COP compliance facility, the client will receive the following: • Ma nual containing the risk management practices that should be practiced and validated on a regula r basis. • Register of inspections and risk management assessments. • Emergency procedures planning. • List of applied logos in facility. • COP complaint promotional material. Registration • A register of COP Compliant Companies is maintained on the website. • COP compliant companies will be granted licence to use specific EPSA COP Brand marking. • A register of COP complaint facilities is maintained on the website. The relevant fire brigades are advised of all facilities that are registered. The EPS PMG are confident that COP will deliver a better perfor ming panel system in a fire and will improve overall value of the EPS Panel investments in the industry.
